UNDER CONSTRUCTION!!!
I will add a lot more to this post but I did promise a couple students who wanted the Study Guide early that I would post it here.
Here are a couple pictures of my first core typing up there final-rough drafts for the writing EOG. It really is cool to see a laptop on every desk and each one of them completely focused on what they are doing. It makes you think about what the future for schools and technology really will be.
We are currently working on our2009 Content Specific Social Studies Writing End of Grade Test….. Wow, that was a mouthful! The purpose of the content specific part of the 7th grade writing EOG is to see how well the students can write when allowed to research, plan, draft, redraft, and edit before submitting their final writing piece.
We have been trucking along through Chapter 7 as fast as we can. There are a lot of fun supplemental materials out there on the information we have been covering. Ancient Egypt is always a student favorite as we tell about how mummies were made or write our names in hieroglyphics. Find out a lot more about Ancient Egypt by clicking here.
Everyone loves to learn about the discovery of King Tuts tomb. Here are some great links about…
We have also learned about West African Kingdoms and have just started learning about the Islamic Religion.
MUCH MORE AFRICAN HISTORY TO COME!

On Thursday, October 8th, each Core recorded a basic fact from Chapter 6: Physical Africa. This was a learning experience for the whole Sunfish team to go through the process of posting audio files to a blog. Look for the Sunfish students to post their own audio files to their edublog page in the near future!
First audio file is a fact about the Nile River from Core 1.
Second audio file is a fact about the Sahara Desert from Core 2.
Third audio file is a fact about Mount Kilimanjaro from Core 3.
Fourth audio file is a fact about the African Continent from Core 4.
Students will have their 2nd test of the year this Friday, October 2nd. It is covering Chapter 5; Natural Resources. A study guide will be given out Thursday for the students to organize their information. Test will cover 2 concept maps and textbook pages 105-110 and 117-121.
Here is a picture of all 98 Sunfish students collages put together to create one giant Sunfish Team Collage. Pretty impressive! Every student created their own individual collage. Each student posted a blog entyr on their Edublog Site that includes a picture of their collage along with 4 paragraphs describing why they choose the pictures that they did. Check out each individual students collage by browsing our SUNFISH LEARNING PORTAL. A link for the Sunfish Team Portal is permanently located on the right side of my homepage.
Come check it out on the Sunfish hallway!!!!!
Mrs Norman will be the sponsor for the 2009-2010 National Geographic Geography Bee. Interested students should listen for information in their Social Studies classrooms. In the meantime, interested students can practice by clicking the link HERE!!!!!
